Is Dating Legal in Qatar

First, if you already have an appointment, make sure you don`t show your affection in public. You may be used to doing it in your hometown, but Qatar is a relatively conservative country and you have to abide by its rules. In this regard, you should also follow strict guidelines regarding clothing. Even if you are not Muslim, you should practice decency through the clothes you wear. Dating is considered “illegal” in Qatar, but you`ll be fine if you`re not too obvious in public. As an expat, I`ve met men from dating apps and real life and none of them want real relationships. I`m not saying it`s impossible to find a decent man, in fact, my girlfriend met her current serious boyfriend on Tinder, but your chances of finding something like this are slim. Men here are not really interested in relationships, they want to try to cope with all the nationalities and races that exist. Many of them are also married, even if they say they are separated, they literally mean it, since the woman is not in Qatar, so they are separated by country, you know what I mean? I hope it doesn`t demotivate you to find someone here, just to share my personal experiences on the dating scene in Qatar. Everything will be fine as long as there is no “public expression of affection” and the girl you`re going to date isn`t wearing spaghetti, shorts or minis. Dating in Qatar requires some discretion, but may look like dating in your home country. We guide you through the good, the bad and what lies ahead. Local laws and customs reflect the fact that Qatar is an Islamic country.

You should respect local traditions, customs, laws and religions at all times and be aware of your actions to ensure they do not offend, especially during the holy month of Ramadan or if you intend to visit religious areas. There can also be severe penalties for something that may not be illegal in the UK but is in Qatar – for example, giving someone a bouncing cheque. It is strongly recommended that you familiarize yourself with and respect local laws and customs. My mother is qatary tho and in Egyptian, my brother also married a qatary woman for love, don`t be fooled by these comments. They are always negative, everything is extremely good here. Try dating apps, but be careful if you are a woman, it is quite a depressing situation. Make sure and meet in public. Living together without marriage is prohibited in Qatar, and sex outside marriage, whether by same-sex or opposite-sex couples, is illegal. This can lead to arrest and eventual trial in which the verdict may include a fine, imprisonment and deportation after serving the sentence. This is especially true if the behavior has caused an offense. For more information, please visit the Local Laws and Practices page.

“Some of them have a legal hurdle — they`re not really single,” Reyes said. One thing to keep in mind, regardless of your background, is that dating — and sex in particular — are taboo topics. Keep this knowledge in mind and always remain discreet about your public and private intimacies. Moving in together when they are not married is illegal in Qatar, and although some people do, you could end up in hot water if you get caught. Don`t even try to find decent people in Qatar. All the men here are looking for fun and just the hobby. No one is serious about relations between locals or expats. People have their own privacy in their country and they just want to be here.

The dating scene in Qatar is really difficult (I`m an expat). Many expat men come here already married or live the single life here, when in reality they are married and their family stays in their home country. It`s not impossible to find a serious relationship, but it`s much harder than in other countries where the majority of residents are actually from there (I`ve been expat in a number of countries). As for Qataris, I have a number of male friends/acquaintances (never dated them) who tell me that they will date expat women, but that they probably couldn`t marry their foreign boyfriend – not only because of family objections, but also because it`s almost impossible to get government approval. if they are young Qatari men who have never been married. Sometimes the government`s approval and the family`s decision are one and the same, because the government will likely talk to the family before making a decision. It is possible that local men are older and have already been married and divorced or are looking for a second wife, depending on the cultures of the two people dating, the role of the family can differ significantly. Singles rarely move to Qatar with their parents, so meeting their partner`s family probably means buying a plane ticket.
