After the painting design was finished as a guide, I simply filled in colors that fit tightly together. You can really use any color scheme you want, but I liked the retro vibe of the colors of the original design. I jumped on Pinterest and started looking for billiard rules characters. There are some really interesting options that have emerged, but I was addicted to a few wood-engraved panels sold on Etsy! The only thing was that the ones I liked were about $100 plus shipping. Thus. Instead of. As always, when I have a DIY project in mind, I showed it to my artisan husband. He took a look at the pool rules panel I liked and decided he was ready for the challenge of rebuilding his own DIY version. I started with a wooden pallet-shaped panel that I found in the lobby of the hobby for the main sign. I also added a few accent lines with a black sharpie to make the letters stand out more. Love its appearance next to the pool! You can also add more wooden slats to have more rules.
I`m sure my parents will come up with more! Then we could post the rules in a prominent place by the pool so that everyone can see and read them. It would serve as a visual memory. and works of art too! Using my Silhouette cutting machine, I cut the title and rules I wanted out of a coordinated green vinyl. Once the base layer dried, I resized my pattern from the original 16″x20″ to fit my shield, and then used black carbon paper to track/transfer the image. I really like some of the designs available through the social art program, but I don`t really need any extra canvas art for my walls. Instead, I like to use the patterns on alternative surfaces. This time, I used one to make a fun “Pool Rules” sign for my mom to hang by her pool. Our stencils are laser cut from high quality Mylar plastic. They are flexible, durable and reusable. The sample photo shows a finished project with bridges filled.

Great addition to the pool. you don`t think so?!? I used an exterior paint for this project to protect it from the weather. I covered the whole room with a nice blue pool. However, we found that whenever people came to swim, we had to check the rules of the pool. We sat the kids on the bridge walk, followed the rules, and then were consistent in how we “keep” swimming. Once the main part of the panel was finished, I was ready to work on the rules that would hang underneath. For this, I used wooden slats (also from Hobby Lobby), which I also coated with the same blue color. There are different ways to make the pool rules a wooden sign. We made two different versions – both 36″ long x 18″ wide, but both with a CNC machine.
If you don`t have access to a CNC machine, you can easily transfer your lettering to your sign with this tutorial from Amy of the Savvy Sparrow! All you need is software like Microsoft Word or Canva (for different fonts) and access to a printer!. *Click here to learn more about the difference between size `STENCIL` and `IMAGE` Не удалось загрузить CAPTCHA.
